She comes stomping out of the corridor, her hair a tangled mess around her shoulders, her cheeks flushed with anger, and that jaw of hers clenching, making those plush lips pout. Genevieve Varga is a vision. She has her father’s tall stature and their eyes are the same shade, but everything else is Wendy.

I’ve only ever been in Vic’s office twice, but he has a picture of Wendy on his desk. The woman was breathtaking. She had radiant skin, much like Genevieve’s same dark olive tone which turns into a beautiful brown beneath the sun’s rays. The lips, the nose, and the shape of her face all belong to the woman who lost her fight with cancer. Wendy left a piece of herself behind in the pissed off woman who’s heading toward me right now.

Genevieve slips onto a stool at the bar. I don’t miss the wince as her ass meets the wooden top. I’m openly staring at her, but she hasn’t noticed because her anger is overriding everything else. Her hand hits the bar top with a loud, resounding smack, which soon gets eaten up by the music in the room, but Chip is perceptive, and he hurries down the bar when he sees his President’s daughter waiting impatiently.

“Hey, Genni.” He looks around, and when his eyes land on me, his brow quirks up.

Genni doesn’t come here often, and when she does, it’s usually with Claire or her father, never during a club party. The things that go on here during a party, no President’s daughter should ever witness.

“I need a whiskey, Chip,” she says, her pink nails tapping quickly along the bar top.

Chip nods and grabs the whiskey off the shelf, pouring it into a clean glass, then sliding it across the bar. I turn on my stool and take a quick look around the room. If Jaeger saw his sister here, I don’t think it would end well.

Thankfully, it looks like he left with the stripper named Angel, and if that’s the case, he’ll be gone for a while. That doesn’t mean Genni should continue to stay.

My eyebrows skate upward when she downs her glass of whiskey in one gulp, running the back of her hand over her swollen lips, and that’s when I really take in her appearance. She’s disheveled, a red rash lining her cheeks where stubble may have caused friction. Her red lips are swollen, like maybe someone was brutally kissing them, and her hair tangled from fingers gripping the thick tresses.

Her leather jacket sits precariously on her shoulders, one side nearly falling down her arm, and her boots have been put on haphazardly, the zippers undone.

“Genevieve.” Her name flies out of my mouth before I have a chance for second thoughts.

She hits the bar again, motioning for Chip to refill her glass as I stare at her profile. When her head turns, and those dark blue eyes are spearing into my own with a despair-tinged anger, I can’t help but find her irresistible.

“Hey, Laith.
